SATO Corporation, the Japanese company, is one of the world leaders in the production of thermal printers. SATO Corporation was founded in 1940. In 1962, the SATO company manufactured the world's first hand-labeller and in 12 years, in 1974, SATO produced the world's first printer capable of printing barcodes and OCR-characters. Since 1974, the company has been producing printers for label and tag printing. At present, SATO provides the whole range of thermal transfer and thermal label printers ranging from portable ones with a printing width of 2 inches and up to commercial ones with a printing width of 250 mm. The company is one of the major market leaders.
